The Craft group have continued to work on their entries for the New Forest Show, but for the last session in June were inspired by the talk from Avery from New Forest for Ukraine to make bandages for Ukraine.
Six of us gathered at Carole’s house and watched the instructional videos on the New Forest for Ukraine website (watch here).
We then set to work sorting materials into cotton and polycottons, measuring, ripping fabrics to the desired sizes and making triangular bandages.
Mel got busy on the sewing machine, sewing strips together to make bandages.
Then we cut them to the desired lengths and rolled the bandages up.
After 3 hours, we felt we have achieved something positive to help the plight of Ukraine. However, it was a times emotional, when we thought about why these bandages are needed and the suffering involved.
If you would like to help this worthy cause, we would happily help you to get going. There are many different jobs and sewing techniques are necessary (as the sewing part can be passed to someone else).
Or perhaps you would like to come and join us at the next session at Evelyn’s on Friday 1st July at 2pm.
We still require donations of 100% cotton material or polycotton material. More information about the processes involved and what’s needed can be seen here.
Please do get in touch if you can help in any way or if you can help.
