Brockenhurst WI Knitting Group Update – July 2026

The Knitting Group, like the Craft Group, enjoyed a very busy July. Members knitted an impressive collection of shepherds (with help from two members of the Craft Group) along with a Joseph for the Craft Group’s entry in the “Fancy a Trip to the Theatre” class at the New Forest Show.  This year’s show theme was Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, and the finished display was a wonderful burst of colour.

Many of our knitters had never attempted knitted figures before, but they rose to the challenge magnificently, producing masterpieces beyond anything they thought they could achieve.

Several members also contributed to the Flower Shop Committee Cup entry by knitting a shopkeeper and a selection of flowers.

Despite all the work involved in preparing for the Show, some members still found time to create items for their own individual entries.  Congratulations to everyone on your hard work and achievements.

At our last meeting, with the Show entries complete and judging taking place that day, we were delighted to receive previously a generous donation of brand-new baby wool. This will be used to knit baby blankets and baby clothes for Ukraine, and members have already begun this worthwhile project.  There was also an opportunity for everyone to take home a selection of new knitting patterns for future projects.

The Knitting Group meets every two weeks, with the next meeting taking place on 24 August.  New members are always welcome. Please contact us for more details.

Thanks go to Suzanne for writing the post and for the photographs.
