Brockenhurst Group Show

The Brockenhurst Group Show takes place on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th December 2021 at St Mary Magdalene Church Hall, New Milton.

Brockenhurst WI members are encouraged to enter the following categories:

SECTION A – PRODUCE

A1 – Jar of Festive Jelly (Jelly must be clear) – 8oz/250grams or under
A baric top to be supplied by committee for display on the viewing day

A2 A jar of mincemeat – 8oz/250grams or under

A3 3 x Hanging Christmas Tree decorations – edible Presented on a paper plate – no larger than 9 inches /23cm

A4 A Dundee Cake -Up to 8 inches / 20cm Presented on a paper plate – no larger than 9 inches /23cm

A5 A Stollen – Presented on a paper plate – no larger than 9 inches /23cm Can be on a rectangular plate 9 inches long

SECTION B – CRAFT

B1 Christmas Stocking with a lop – any medium

B2Winter Set in Bright Colours’ Hat, Scarf, gloves min of 2 items . (Sparkly wool can be used) All items entered in this class will be donated to the homeless

B3 Knitted toy (soft) ‘Festive Friend (NO Sparkly wool to be used) Only yarn and stuffing .Page 97/98 On with the Show

B4 Article in Crochet –Christmas theme Any ply

B5 Hand embroidery/applique/canvass/bead work Winter wonderland’ theme
(Bead work can be jewellery)
(No glass to be used in picture frames)

SECTION C Photography, painting/drawing and recycling

C1 Photograph – ‘Winter wonderland’ Colour or black and white print
Print size not to exceed 7 x 5 inches / 17.5cm x 12/5 cm
Print is to be mounted by exhibitor

C2 Painting or drawing – any medium ‘Winter season’ Framed or mounted and exhibitor to provide a named easel or stand
Frame /mount not to exceed 25 x 20 inches/ 63 x 50 cm

C3 An article for Christmas – using recycled material(s) Please include a brief explanation of the original use and form if you wish

SECTION D – Floral

D1 Table Decoration for Christmas natural or dried only
(ANY artificial material or accessories may be used as well as fresh, or dried)
Overall dimensions 12 x 12x 12 inches / 30 x 30 x 30 cm

D2 Christmas Wreath (ANY artificial material or accessories may be used as well as fresh, or dried) maximum overall size 18inches /46 cm can include accessories
Must have a hanging loop

Co-Operative classes 1 entry of each class per WI

PRODUCE ‘Christmas Eve Board for Father Christmas’ 3 Items – 2 x food and 1 x drink
3 members of a WI to take part
To be staged on a 20 x 20 inch /500 x 500mm board Marks to be awarded for staging, variety and presentation

CRAFT ‘Nativity’ 3 items using different crafts depicting the title of Nativity
3 members to take part
To be staged on a 30 x 24 inch / 750 x 600 mm board Marks to be awarded for staging, variety and presentation

FOR MEMBERS’ CHILDREN and/or GRANDCHILDREN

COOKERY DECORATED GINGERBREAD ITEM: Presented on a disposable plate

Ages – 0 – 5 yrs (NOT JUDGED) 5 – 8 yrs own work
9 – 11 yrs own work
12 – 16 own work

CRAFT Homemade Cracker any medium:

Ages – 0 – 5 yrs (NOT JUDGED) 5 – 8 yrs own work
9 – 11 yrs own work
12 – 16 own work

CUPS LIST FOR 2021 SHOW New Forest Cups

1st place – to the WI with the most points overall.
2nd place – to the WI who came runner up in the points overall

The Bowden Smith Cup Awarded to the Institute having the highest percentage of members entering in proportion to their membership.
The Produce Cup Awarded to the member achieving the most points in Section A.
The Handicraft Cup Awarded to the member achieving the most points in Section B.

The Jean Bow Trophy Awarded for the most outstanding item in Section B in the opinion of the Judges. The Verrall Cup Awarded to the member entering the best photograph. (Judge’s decision)
The Diamond Cup Awarded to the member entering the best painting or drawing. (Judge’s decision) The Challenge Bell Awarded to the member achieving the most innovative article for Christmas using recycled materials. (Judge’s decision)

The Beryl Browning Rose Bowl Awarded to the member achieving the outstanding display in Section D1. (Judge’s decision)
The Floral Cup Awarded to the member achieving the outstanding display in Section D2. (Judge’s decision) The Lady Clementina Tottenham Challenge Bowl Will be awarded to the institute winning the Produce Co- operative class.

The Coronation Cup Will be awarded to the institute winning the Craft Co-operative class.
The Heather Farwell Rose Bowl – Will be awarded to the member gaining the highest number of points overall.

At the Show after the cups have been awards it was suggested leaving cups behind to have them all engraved. Each WI to then be invoiced for the cost of their engraving ACTION: please could committee members ask their WI if they agree to this and please let Lesley know at the next meeting.

SALES TABLE

2 ways to sell: (only hand made craft items accepted)

  1. A member can sell items on the sales table. They must submit a list of their items on the correct form (to be supplied by Helen).
    Each item submitted for sale must have a label attached stating: Item description Sale price Name of contributor and which WI they belong to
  2. A member can sell an item they have entered for judging.
    They must submit a list of their items on the correct form (to be supplied by Helen). On the WI judging label there must be a green dot to show the item can be sold. On the back of the label must be the price.

10% of any items sold will be retained by the Brockenhurst Group funds.

All items for Sales table to be delivered to the hall on Friday 3rd December
Any items submitted for selling which have not sold must be collected by 4.30pm on Saturday or the committee reserves the right to send any unsold items to charity.

CAKE and PRESERVES STALL – Please can you make a cake or some preserves for this stall?

All members of the WIs within the group to be asked for donations for the cake/preserve stall. All monies raised to go into group funds. (NO cakes containing fresh cream please) Also please attach a sticky label to cake with ingredients of cakes.

If you wish to enter any of the above, entry form are available from Ann N and need to be returned to her by 24th October 2021
