October Press Report

On Saturday 9th October, Brockenhurst WI provided refreshments at a World Textile Day in the Village Hall.

On arrival at the hall, we were met by a sea of colour literally everywhere from stands, table tops and coat racks.  Stallholders items were sourced from many countries, displaying fabrics, clothing, baskets, wall hangings and other items either sold or there for display and discussion.

Stallholders and visitors enjoyed visiting our refreshments stall.

On the evening of Monday 11th October our speaker was Jackie Dimmock, who worked for many years as a WPC for Hampshire Constabulary.

Through her quilts she talked about her career as a WPC which involved progressing from the most junior as a 25 year old in urban policing, child protection, vulnerable adults, public protection unit, working in schools and the scenes of crime unit.  A fascinating insight into her carer as a Police Officer.  A lot of amusement to her talk entitled The Good, The Bad and the Downright Funny.

The WI meet on the second Monday of the month at the Village Hall.  New members are welcome to join these meetings.  Please email us for more details.
