On 14th July Brockenhurst, sixteen members from Brockenhurst WI went to Woodside Park in Lymington for a Croquet session. We played croquet under the supervision from members of the Croquet Club. After a two year gap, this week saw the return of the New Forest Show. The WI Schedule was ‘Step back in Time’ (carried over from 2020). The entry classes were: 1. ‘Sweets for my Sweet’ Peppermint Creams. Six sweets (half dipped in chocolate optional) displayed in a box with clear lid/clingfilm no larger than 6″ x 4″ (15 x 10cm). Six members from Brockenhurst WI gathered to make more bandages for Ukraine. New Forest for Ukraine have been gifted some sheets, so we could get going making Triangular bandages which are much needed and go in the trauma packs. We managed to make around 40 Triangular bandages during this session. Rolled bandages and Tourniquet ties were also made. Our talk this month was by an Archaeologist – Ruby Mogg about Medieval Southampton. She was full of enthusiasm about her subject despite the heat! She took us through the Saxon era, the Normans and late Medieval Period. There is no written record before the Roman invasion.
