Here are our activities for April:

Our Monthly Meeting is on Monday 8th April 2024 with speaker Marcus Ward of Wild New Forest. The subject is “Pine Martens in the New Forest” and the meeting is at Brockenhurst Village Hall – arrival from 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Guests and visitors are welcome to attend.

The ‘Competition of the Month’ in aid of ACWW will be a flower. So please bring a single bloom in a vase for our competition table. Members vote using a silver coin for their favourite flower. The flower with the most coins is the winner. The money is sent to our charity ACWW. There will also be a raffle.

At the meeting, there will be sign-up sheets for various events, including for the Brockenhurst Village D-Day event, where Brockenhurst WI will have a stall about the role of The WI during World War II. We would very much welcome members to help on the stall on the day. Please see Julie for more details.

Karen will also have a sign-up sheet for a our proposed summer trip to Wilton House. The date will be confirmed asap.

Rita and her team of volunteers are continuing with Bandage Making for Ukraine on Wednesday mornings from 10-12 noon at Rita’s house. All welcome to come along and help. Rita also welcomes help from those who can’t attend the bandage making sessions, but can help in their own homes. Rita is especially in need of people with sewing machines to do some simple machine sewing. Please contact us for more details and location or speak to Rita at Monday’s meeting.

The Darts team continue to practice most Thursdays at 11am at the Foresters Arms, Brookley Road, Brockenhurst. All welcome to join in. Please contact us for more details.

The Craft Group have sessions on Friday 12th April and Friday 26th April 2024 from 2pm-4pm Please contact us for more information, to book a place or for the location.

On Wednesday 17h April at 2pm , Julie will be running a demonstration and discussion session for making fudge . Fudge is one of the categories at The New Forest Show this year and this session will help in preparation for this. Please contact us for more information or sign up at the next meeting. 

Christine has organised the April Lunch Club session. It will be held on Monday 22nd April 2024 at Steff’s Kitchen, Beaulieu. Please contact us for more information, to book a place.

On the last weekend of the month, we have the Needlework Fiesta at Brockenhurst Village Hall. on Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th April 2024 Brockenhurst WI are running the refreshments stall at this event and welcome cakes and volunteers to help over the weekend. Please contact us to volunteer.

Julie will lead a Walk on Monday 29th April at 2pm. This will start from Whitefield Moor car park. This walk will be in aid of Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW) and refreshments will be served afterwards with donations going to ACWW.. Non-walkers will be welcome for refreshments at 3.30pm. Pease sign up at Monday’s meeting or email us to add your name to the list. Please add your contact details as if the weather is poor, the refreshments will be served at an alternative location.
