The WI Clean Rivers Campaign Day 2

As it was mentioned yesterday, we have a display and information about water pollution and the WI Clean Rivers campaign in the old phone box off Meerut Road in Brockenhurst. (Thanks to Issy & Sue G for putting the display up).

Do go and have a read of the information

We are asking for WI members, members of the local community and campaigning groups to take a photo of themselves outside the phone box and give us a sentence about why this campaign is important to you. You can send a video if you prefer.

WI Committee member Julie Wootten has started this off and says:

“I feel very fortunate to live in the New Forest, which is a Special Site of Scientific Interest SSSI), so was shocked to find out about the amount of sewage that is dumped in our local rivers. This is why I am campaigning for clean rivers as this situation needs to change for people and wildlife!”

Milla Pearse from Greener Brockenhurst sent us this:

“As a founder member of Greener Brockenhurst and member of Surfers Against Sewage, I have recently gained a deeper understanding of why sewage and plastic in our rivers matters SO much – Its not just that it’s not nice to swim in or to look at, it’s because these fresh water eco systems are a crucial support to bio diversity and our environment.“

Please do send us your photos or videos here or comment below and someone will get back to you on how to send the photo.

Thank you for reading this.
