Most people probably know Wealden Down as being the home of the TV show The Repair Cafe, but there is much more to it that that as Brockenhurst WI members and guests found out when we visited.

It is the home to 1,000 years of rural life in an open air site. The Museum’s 40 acres site, historic gardens and buildings are fascinating places to learn about rural history.

It has a range of seasonal activities throughout the year and at present the exhibition is ‘signs’, donated from a great many different walks of life.
The museum has some 16,000 artefacts in its collection in Gridshell Building and some of our members booked in for this tour.

Members enjoyed exploring the grounds and buildings

Some were even lucky enough to bump into the odd famous face!

A great time was had by all.
Thank you to Zena for booking this trip.
Thanks also go to Christine K for the photos.

Fabulous day at a wonderful sight, full of interesting houses and lots of history. Thank you Wi for arranging the trip. Stroking the tiny lambs was a highlight as they were being bottle fed…..greedily!
