New Forest Show 2022

This years New Forest Show runs from 26th, 27th and 28th July . The theme for the WI Schedule is ‘Step back in Time’ (carried over from the cancelled show in 2020).

The entry classes are:

1. ‘Sweets for my Sweet’

Peppermint Creams

Six sweets (half dipped in chocolate optional) displayed in a box with clear lid/clingfilm no larger than 6″ x 4″ (15 x 10cm).

2. ‘Paddington’s Choice’

Fruit marmalade

Any citrus fruit, clear glass jar, no larger than 8oz/225g, plain unused lid, ingredients and date to be listed on label.

3. ‘Childhood Memories’

English Madeleines

Three madeleines, baked in a dariole mould, displayed on an oblong board no larger than 9″ x 4″ (23 x 10 cm). Need to be covered in clingfilm.

4. Produce Co-operative

Create a “1950s larder”

Three different food items to be judged, displayed within a container no larger than 14″ x 14″ x 16″ (35 x 35 x 40 cm) No meat or fish. All items to be covered. Accessories within the container only, can be used, but will not be judged. At least three members to take part but only two to stage on Monday 25th July.

5. ‘And So Bed’

Bedsocks – knit or crochet a pair of colourful/attractive bedsocks. No restrictions, any wool or size of sock.

6. Novice Class

‘Be creative with Macrame”

Any article (but NOT plant holder/hanger) no larger than 24″ x 12″ (60 x 30 cm) – belts, (max. length 40″ (100 cm), bracelets, handbags, etc.

7. Charity Class

‘Dress a Girl around the World’

Toddler Dress – made from recycled fabric, e.g. pillowcase, shirt, etc., to be shown with photo of original item. (to be taken to a children’s orphanage in Uganda) Patterns and instructions for pillowcase dresses available online.

8. Craft Co-operative

‘The 1920s’

Three different craft items from the era – all three items must be removable from the display to be judged. To be displayed on a board no larger than 24″ x 30″ (60 x 75 cm) to be viewed from the front. Accessories may be used. Marks will be awarded for staging and interpretation. At least three members to participate but only two to stage on Monday 25th July.

9. Flowers

‘Tea at the Ritz’

Fresh or dried to be displayed in a small teapot – to arrive at the showground ready assembled. ALL accessories to be contained within the exhibit. No larger than 10″ x 10″ x 10″ (26 x 26 x 26 cm) – no board.

10. Photography

Nostalgia – ‘A village scene’

A black and white or sepia photograph you have taken, no larger than 7″ x 5″ (18 x 13 cm). Must be mounted, framed and ready to hand/stand (no clip frames) (Maximum 2 entries per member).

11. Art

‘Step Back in Time’

Open theme.  A painting/drawing, any medium, nothing stitched or sewn. Exhibit must be framed, glazed and ready to hang (No box frames or canvases due to humidity, no clip frames.)  Overall width no larger than 14″/35 cm and height appropriate to design.

12. Computer generated Art

‘Step  Back in Time’

(Maximum size A4) – exhibit to be framed, glazed and ready to hang. No clip frames, maximum 2 entries per member.

13. Committee Cup

‘Through the Garden Gate’ – A miniature Allotment (public vote)

On a board, no larger than 14″ x 14″ (35 x 35 cm). Several members to participate. Name of WI on underside of board.

Brockenhurst WI welcome all members to take part in the show. You don’t have to attend Craft Club meetings to take part – there is a category for everyones talents, so don’t be shy!
