Brockenhurst Green Day

Brockenhurst WI are having a stall at Brockenhurst Green Day on Saturday 10th July.

Many local and New Forest groups and businesses are taking part in this day and it is promising to become a very interesting and educational Eco fair.

It is being held at St Saviours Church garden on Saturday 10th July from 12 noon to 4pm

The WI Sub-committee for this event has come up with ideas for our stall on the day and also the two weeks leading up to it.

Our theme for the day is sustainable and eco friendly items anyone can use on a daily basis in their household.

The aim is to demonstrate and display simple household items which are sustainable and eco friendly/recycled/upcycled.

Apart from displaying some items, we thought it would also be nice to give against donation or sell a few items which can easily be made at home, such as soap sacks, make up remover pads or cotton cloth hand and face wipes.

Can you help:

  • Manning and/or setting up, taking down the stall
  • Lending us items for display on the day  (needs to be eco friendly, sustainable, recycled, upcycled)
  • Help make things, such as soap sacks, make-up remover pads, dish scrubs and hand/face wipes. These can either be crocheted, knitted or sewn.   (see examples below)

Soap Sacks collect your leftover soap bar bits 🧼 and use like a flannel. Dimensions: roughly 8x12cm.

Make up pad removers – you can see a video herehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFpkqYzGp_E

Dish Scrubs – for an example of a pattern see https://crochetdreamz.com/crochet-scrubbie-free-pattern/

Hand/Face Wipes – roughly 20x20cm or 15x15cm made from cotton and towelling

Please look around your house, you might be surprised of what you already use that is green and sustainable.

Leading up to the event we have to opportunity to display handmade posters promoting being green, sustainable and eco friendly in the Meerut Road Red Telephone Kiosk. Here are a couple of examples. The poster doesn’t have to be made on a computer! It is a chance for budding artists to get creative.

After all the WI started the campaign “Keep Britain tidy”, you might remember those posters! So, please think of something dear to your heart and get crafty. Painting, drawing, cutouts, computer generated… anything goes. Size for posters is to fit the small kiosk windows – Landscape 17 cm high and up to 34cm wide

WI members – you will shortly receiving an email and an online form to fill in for you to volunteer.

Items can be given to Britta or Issy. Or they can be collected. Thank you.

Or please contact us for more information.
