New Forest Show July 2023
A record number of Brockenhurst WI members entered categories in this years New Forest Show with the theme of celebration. We had 14 members step up to Kim’s challenge of entering the show and had entries in 11 of the 13 classes. Our February Birthday Meeting
This month Brockenhurst WI celebrated 105 years with a lovely social evening which was well attended. Members were treated by the craft group to a variety of demonstrations and activities. Karen showed us some great floral displays. There were 16 members celebrating theirs Birthdays this month who all received a a lovely polyanthus. We had our customary raffle. Planning for December!
Friday 2nd December is the date for the Brockenhurst Christmas Fun Evening. Brockenhurst WI will be having a stall at the event. We have decided to sell homemade Christmas tree decorations and would very much like to get as many members as possible involved with this, either in making decorations to sell or helping on the night. Jubilee Celebrations Part Two -Refreshments at the Football Club
On Saturday of the Jubilee weekend, Brockenhurst WI teamed up with the Mother’s Union to provide refreshments at the Platinum Jubilee celebrations at the Brockenhurst Football club. An array of beautiful cakes were made for the occasion by our talented bakers and were very popular. Jubilee Celebrations Part One- Bench Trail
Brockenhurst WI members, led by Issy, organised a Jubilee Bench Trail around the village on Friday. Brockenhurst boasts numerous wooden benches round the village centre. One such bench was erected to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Silver Jubilee in 1860. The village really went to town in 1937 to celebrate King George’s Coronation with the provision of benches. Where’s WInnie?
The WI have launched a special project to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee! In the March issue of WI Life magazine, our members will find all there is to know about the ‘Where’s WInnie’ craft competition to knit a corgi. Our February Meeting and our 104th Birthday
Our February meeting saw Brockenhurst WI celebrating our 104th Birthday with 35 members and 7 guests in attendance. We had an action packed evening! Hampshire WI currently have three competitions running which anyone can enter. It would be great if our talented members would like to take part in these competitions.
