Group Quiz Teams
Sway WI hosted the WI Group Quiz with 7 teams taking part. There were 8 rounds of questions from General knowledge, Music, Sporting Nicknames, Nicknames, History, Words, The Natural World, Round Britain and The Last Round. Our next meeting is Monday 12th June, at which our speaker will be Tony Gilks, talking to us about “Jewels in the Crown”, the history behind the gems in the Coronation regalia, very topical and I’m sure will be fascinating. We have another busy month ahead with activities to suit all. Monthly Meeting Monday 13th March This month we have the return of speaker Jane Glennie. This time, she will talk to us about ‘Violet’s Britannic Escape’. Nursing experiences during WW1 and Escape from the Titanic’s sister ship, Britannic. October’s Meeting and Press Report
We met this month for our meeting at The Village Hall. The competition of the month for this month was to make Christmas Tree decorations. We received a good selection and money was raised by voting with silver coins for our charity ACWW. Hampshire WI Quiz
Our quiz team took part in the final of the Hampshire WI Quiz on 30th September at Eastleigh. Our team consisted of Jan Viner, Isabel Toward, Elaine Blachford, Zena Smith & Janette Smethurst. Our team gained the position of 9th out of 18 teams in the final, from a pool of approximately 120 WI groups in lower Hampshire. Well done ladies! Quiz
The Federation Quiz is an annual event, which starts with the first rounds held in the Groups. The first round for Brockenhurst Group took place at Brockenhurst Village Hall on the 29th June. The winning team would progress to the final in Eastleigh at the end of September.
