November Round Up 2025

November has been a busy month for Brockenhurst WI with lots of activities.

Th month started with three days of QuiltFest, organised by Kim and team, which was varied and interesting. You can read more about it here. Kim also organised a denim repurposing event later in the month.

Our November Meeting saw the return of speaker Alistair Brien, but this time showing us his magic tricks. Our ‘Competition of the Month’ was an interesting bottle and this was won by Lizzie. You can read more about the meeting here.

The Craft Group have been busy. On the first session in November, they repurposed the blood droplets they made last year into hearts for the Christmas Tree Festival. Hearts were also made from air-dried clay. In the second session of the month, items were made to sell on our stall at the Christmas Fun Evening, making a Poinsettia Wreath and decorating glass jars to make them into lights.

Kim has started a Cross Stitch group which had their first session, learning techniques and skills. They were given a project as homework.

Kim has also resumed the quilting group and is teaching the Bargello technique to a group of WI members.

Brockenhurst WI answered a plea from Brockenhurst Village Hall to lead a children’s craft activity at their Community Christmas Market. Fun was had making Snowmen cards.

The Lunch Club went to the Lion and Lamb in Pennington. Everyone enjoyed their lunch and we were looked after very well. Portions were very generous and so no one left the table hungry. Everyone said they enjoyed it. Timing was a bit tight for a few, so they took a doggy bag home with their puddings in!

The Darts team have continued to practice every Thursday at The Foresters Arms.

Rita and team have continued to make bandages which are sent to Ukraine and are sadly still much needed.

We ended the month by entering a Christmas Tree into Christmas Tree Festival at St Saviour’s Church. This festival is raising money for the PTA, Mother’s Union and Oakhaven Hospice. The theme of our tree was the WI campaign, ‘Bystanders can be Lifesavers’, empowering people to know where defibrillators are by accessing the Defib Finder website and learning CPR from the free 1 minute RivivR BHF training. Thanks go the the Craft Group for making decorations and to Evelyn, Jayne and Carole for decorating the tree.

We look forward to December.
