Brockenhurst WI November Activities 2025

This Friday (7th November), Carole and craft group will be making hearts for Christmas Tree Festival (see below) at the Craft Group meeting on from 2pm-4pm at Carole’s house. Any members are welcome to come and help us (please contact us for more details. let us know that you would like to come along and for Carole’s address).

On Sunday (9th November) there is a Service of Remembrance at the War Memorial on the Sway Road service at 10.45am. Janet will be laying a poppy wreath on behalf of our WI.

Then on Monday 10th November we have our Monthly Meeting with the return of local Brockenhurst speaker Alistair Brien, who will entertain us with “A night of magic”. (Alistair is a member of the Magic Circle).

There will be a ‘Competition of the Month’ which this month is an ‘unusual/interesting bottle’. So do look out an interesting/unusual bottle and bring silver coins to vote for your favourite. The money is donated to ACWW https://acww.org.uk/. There will also be a Raffle and lots of sign-up sheets!. If you would like a lift to the meeting, please let me know.         

Rita is continuing with Bandage Making for Ukraine on Wednesday mornings from 10-12 noon at Rita’s house. All welcome to come along and help. Please contact us for more details and location.

The Darts team continue to practice on Thursdays at 11am at the Foresters Arms, Brookley Road, Brockenhurst. All welcome to join in. Please contact us for more details.

On Friday 14th November, we have our ‘Jean Genie’ Craft Event from 2pm at Brockenhurst Village Hall. Lymington Transition will be giving us lots of ideas of ways to repurpose denim (this is a category for the Group Show in March). The cost £10 (to cover the hall hire and also to give a donation to Lymington Transition for their time and materials). Please do support this great event.

Christine has organised Lunch Club  on Friday 21st November at  12.30 at The Lion and Lamb in Pennington. Please sign up at our monthly meeting or contact us for more details.

On Friday 21st November Kim is starting a new Cross Stitch Group, from 2-4pm at Gina’s house. There will be a sign up sheet at Monday’s meeting Please contact us for more details and location.

We have been invited to attend the Community Christmas Fair at Brockenhurst Village Hall on 23RD Nov 10.00 – 4.00. Carole and Sue C have volunteered to make snowman cards with children as a free activity (materials paid for by Village Hall), but we do require more volunteers to help with this. There will be a sign-up sheet at Monday’s meeting, and we hope you will support us with this community event.

Rose has organised a Walk on Tuesday 25th Novemberstarting at Whitefield Moor, Rhinefield Road, at 10.30 am. Please contact us for more details or sign up at the meeting.

The Christmas Tree Festival is taking place from 28th-30th November at St Saviour’s Church and we are entering a tree. The theme of our tree will be ‘Bystanders can be Lifesavers’ and it will have a heart decorations. Decorations are being made by on Friday 7th by the Craft Group, so please do come and help.

Proceeds from the Christmas Tree Festival will be split between Brockenhurst PTA, Mothers Union, Oakhaven Hospice. We require volunteers to set up our tree and take down again.

Viewing of the Christmas Tree Festival is on Friday 28th 2pm-8pm, Saturday 11am-6pm, or Sunday 1pm-6pm.

On Friday 5th December is the village annual Christmas Fun Evening from 6pm-8pm. Spoiler alert, but I predict that Santa will get stick on Tesco roof! On our stall, we will do doing our infamous ‘Human Fruit Machine’ and selling Christmas Tree decorations, plus items that members have made/donated.

We are looking for volunteers to help us at this fun event, setting up the gazebo and stall from 4pm, taking part with the fruit machine, helping on the stall and selling items and packing away afterwards. This is a great village event, and we do hope that you will support and help us. There will be a sign-up sheet at Monday’s meeting or contact us  to volunteer.

The Group Carol Service is at Ashley Baptist Church at 2pm on Tuesday 9th December. If you would like a lift, please contact us.
