World Textile Day is a free exhibition and fair trade market of world textiles held annually in venues across England, Scotland and Wales.
The south of England World Textile Day is being held on Saturday 9th October from 10am-4pm at Brockenhurst Village Hall.

Brockenhurst WI have the privilege of putting on the refreshments for this event, so come and have a cuppa and something to eat from our refreshments stall.
Here’s the lineup of world textiles experts:
Textile Traders Jim and Diane Gaffney specialise in handmade textiles and clothing from Indonesia and Thailand.
African Fabric Shop Magie and Bob will have fabrics from across Africa, plus beads and their famous Bolga baskets.
Susan Briscoe Author and teacher, with great array of kimono fabrics.
Tentmakers of Cairo Joan and John Fisher specialise in the needle-turned appliqué wallhangings of the famous ‘tentmakers of Cairo’.
Tweed Indeed Helen Murchie will have her irresistable collection of accessories – all made from genuine Harris tweed.
Gaynor Williams author of a new book all about textiles made for animals – think horses, donkeys, camels and elephants! – will be onhand with items from a lifetime of collecting.
Treasure of the Silk Road Anne Hildyard’s collection… just what it says on the tin!
