SUMMER KNITTING, SEWING, CROCHET & WOOL CAMPAIGN FOR NEW FOREST FOR UKRAINE

CAN YOU HELP WITH KNITTING, SEWING OR CROCHET?

Summer gets hot in Ukraine (up to 35C inland) so we need to build on our fabulous efforts to get them what they need.

So light knits (4 or 3 ply – you can always adapt a DK pattern, do a bigger size and knit with 4 ply!) would be especially appreciated now. Please keep any winter knits in storage at home until September. Many thanks.

What we need:

For baby boxes:

• Booties – Mittens – Jackets/cardigans/jumpers – Hats (but we have LOTS of hats so not so needed at the moment)
• Sizes – preferably based on 0-3 or 0-6 month patterns (roughly 15-18 inch chest or 14-18 inch head)
• Small knitted toys – preferably cheerful colours!
• Baby blankets –
  • Please no holes in the blankets to avoid catching small fingers and toes
  • Aiming for dimensions around 24 by 24 inch square or similar if possible
  • Squares – if you are doing squares we’d REALLY appreciate sewing together. Such as 3×3 8 inch squares or 4 x4 6 inch squares. We have over 400 squares waiting to be sewn together!!
• Knitted, crocheted, felt and fabric hearts, sunflowers or similar to place into the baby boxes for the Mums

For premature babies:

• Booties – Mittens – Jackets/cardigans/jumpers – Hats
• Sizes – preferably based on anything from 8 -15 inch head circumference and 10-14 chest circumference​
• Small blankets and quilts from incubator size upwards (no holes please) 16×20 inches, no buttons or surface decoration
• Bonding squares

Just a little reminder….please could you pop a note in with your donation so that we know who it is from. 

Other vital items for babies and children which we have been asked for:

• Baby Grows all sizes especially 9-12 months
• Dummies/soothers (new please!)
• Muslin squares
• Nappy cream
• Baby body wash
• Baby food and formula

Toddlers, children, adults, elderly:

Thank you – we have enough winter type hats, gloves and scarves for now but really need the following!

• Twiddle Muffs and Cuffs – these are brilliant for the elder shelters and care homes
• Light knits/clothes for spring/summer, all sizes
• Adult blankets – preferably 44 x 55, 60 x78 inches or large sections we can put together to make these sort of sizes
• Quilts of all sizes
• Hot water bottle covers – could you send in September?
