Brockenhurst WI QuiltFest

Calling all WI Crafters

Brockenhurst WI, under the leadership of Kim and team, have organised an exciting “Quilt and Craft Fest” during the first weekend in November 2025. The event will incorporate a series of workshops designed to improve the range of your sewing skills.

This is open to any WI member and you can pick and choose which sessions you attend.

The programme will be as follows:

Saturday 1st November – Starting at 9.30 in St Saviour’s Church Hall.

  1. A fascinating 60–75-minute talk by Sara Sullivan entitled: “The History of Colour Through Sylko”. Search your sewing boxes for old Sylko spools and bring them along, they may be collector’s items! Sara will be able to tell you if yours fall into that category and give you an idea of their value. Tea, coffee, and biscuits will be available at the end of the session. Cost £5
  1. Between 11.00 and 16.00, Kim will demonstrate and guide you through the making of a “Folded Star,” using Christmas fabrics, to be incorporated into a cushion, which you will be able to make at a workshop on the next day. You will need to bring your sewing machine! Cost £10 plus a kit of approximately £10

Sunday 2nd November – 10.00 start in the Craft Room, Brockenhurst Village Hall.

  • Sarah Richards will demonstrate and guide you through the making of a cushion, including the insertion of a flange and a zip, perfect piping, and incorporation of the Folded Star which you may have made during Saturday’s workshop. Numbers for this session will be limited to 15 – 20 and you will need to bring your sewing machine. There will be a coffee break. Cost £20

Monday 3rd November – From 10.00 – 16.00 in the Craft Room, Brockenhurst Village Hall

  • Kate Findlay’s workshop will demonstrate the making of a “Winter Hedgerow.” She will teach printing collage and appliqué techniques to 16 people. Cost £25 plus a kit of approximately £10
