May Round-Up 2025

Our May meeting was also our End of Year meeting and elections. Our stand-in speaker was our member Janice, and she did a great job of entertaining us with her talk about ‘Working with Elephants’. You can read about the meeting here.

Craft Group members met at Carole’s home for workshop in Blackwork, led by Gina.  This was a very enjoyable afternoon, and many of us had never done this before.  Gina explained and demonstrated a range of stitches, and  by the end of the afternoon, most of us had produced some good results.  We hope Gina will do a follow up session where we can draw up a design and make something usable.

Julie led a walk, assisted by her dog Libby. Despite being a grey day, it stayed dry and warm for us. We walked across Whitemoor to Puttle Bridge. We then walked up through the woods to Aldridge Hill and back via the campsite road. We enjoyed listening to the birds, having a chat and getting some exercise.

Christine booked lunch at Daisy Tea garden in the lovely setting of Setley Ridge. Despite not having to pre-order, our lunches came out very quickly. There was lots of chat and laughter and a good time was had.

Rita has continued to host bandage-making sessions, making much needed bandages for Ukraine.

The Darts team have continued to practice on Thursday mornings at The Foresters Arms.

Our member Issy completed a 13 mile walk in aid of Alzheimer’s Society. So far, she has raised £976 If you would like to add to this total and help take it over £1000 to support this great charity which helps those living with dementia and also their carers, you can do so here.
