New Forest Show Final Schedule 2025

Are you looking to get ahead of the game? If so, do take a look at the classes for the WI tent at The New Forest which takes place on 29th, 30th and 31st July.

There are lots of different classes with something for all, so why not start your entries now.

Schedule 2025 – ‘Wonderfully Wild’

Please refer to the latest edition (2021) of ‘On With The Show’ handbook for more details. This can be found in “My WI”

CLASSES

  1. Lavender Biscuits
    For a gift; four Lavender Biscuits, presented in a cellophane bag, not sealed, but tied with ribbon or raffia etc.
  1. Fruit Chutney
    Fruit Chutney in a clear glass jar no larger than 225g with a plain unused lid. Ingredients and date to be listed on label.
  1. Four Wild Flower Cupcakes
    Four cupcakes, each cupcake decorated to represent a different wild flower, presented on a 20cm square board. Fondant/piping decoration (all to be handmade) – no buttercream.
  1. Produce Co-operative
    ‘A Campsite Picnic’ Two different food items and a non-alcoholic drink, presented on a board no larger than 51x 51cm. Backboard optional but must be within the sizes quoted; to be viewed from the front. No meat or fish and all food items to be covered with cling film. All items must be removable for judging. Accessories may be used but must be within the exhibit areaandwill be marked as part of Staging and Interpretation. Please add name of WI to underside of board. At least three members to take part, but only two to stage on Monday 28th July.
  1. Knitting/Crochet: ‘Wild Creatures’ (including birds and reptiles)
    ‘’ A Wild Creature, not dressed, up to 40cm in length, height appropriate. No kits please. N.B. This is not a toy.
  2. ‘Wonderfully Wild Face Mask’ A decorated, full-face mask for an adult, with suitable fixing (no sticks): mixed media.
  3. Charity Class Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Southampton Hospital. A Child’s Quilt, approximately 60 x 80cm (no commercial quilting or embellishments allowed and no kits please), fabric used must be suitable for machine washing and tumble drying. All entries submitted will be retained and donated to PICU.
  4. Craft Co-operative A Wild Walk in the Woods’ Three different craft items, presented on a board no larger than 61 x 77cm, backboard optional, but must be within the sizes quoted; viewed from the front. All items must be removable for judging. Accessories may be used but must be within the exhibit area and will be marked as part of the Staging and Interpretation. Please add name of WI to underside of board. At least three members to take part, but only two to stage on Monday 28th July.
  5. Wildly Arranged Flowers A Hand-tied Posy of fresh flowers (approximately 30 stems) to be displayed in a glass jar no larger than 600g /hight appropriate.
  6. Photography ‘Wild Weather’ A photograph you have taken of wild weather within the last year. Photograph no larger than 13 x 18cm, framed within a mount; ready to hang/stand (no clip frames). Maximum of two entries per member.
  7. Novice Class * Art ‘Wild Women!’ A painting/drawing, any medium, nothing stitched or sewn. Exhibit must be framed, glazed and ready to hang (no box frames, clip frames or canvases due to humidity). Width no larger than 36cm, height appropriate. *Open to members who have not previously won a 1st Prize in this category in the WI Tent.
  8. Papercraft ‘Wild Party Invitation’ A Wild Party invitation, just one side, 13 x 18cm, in an unsealed cellophane bag (for judging purposes). No kits please. One card per member.
  9. Committee Cup (public vote) ‘Wonderfully Wild Safari’ A Wild Safari scene; on a board no larger than 35 x 35cm, to be viewed from the front. Several members to participate. Craft items only, no mechanics or commercial toys. Please add name of WI to underside of board.

Rules

  • 1. Competitors must be Hampshire WI members and all articles for the competition MUST be their own work.
  • 2. Entry forms should be sent through Members’ Institute Representative.
  • 3. Competitors can enter any number of items, unless otherwise stated, but can take only one award in each class.
  • 4. The judge’s decision id final. Right is reserved to withdraw the first prize if the judge considers the work does not merit it.
  • 5. All exhibits, including Co-operatives, must be checked in BETWEEN 9.00am and 10.30am on the day before the Show – Monday 28th July 2025. N.B. Apart from Class 4, substitutions will not be accepted on the day.
  • 6. Exhibits, apart from Classes 4 and 8, will be staged at the Committee’s discretion.
  • 7. Entries close on Friday 13th June 2025.
  • 8. Exhibits must not be dismantled or removed from the Showground until between 6pm and 7pm, having been checked out on the final day, Thursday 31st July. Please take all foodstuffs away.
  • 9. Any Show comments to be sent to Mrs Maureen Page (please ask us her for contact details) within 14 days of the Show’s completion.

ENTRY FEES AND INFORMATION

Individual entries and Class 13 – £1 per entry, Co-operative Classes (4 and 8) – £4.

The Committee does not accept responsibility for members’ property but every care will be taken.

FIRST in class (1-12):                                                                           £10 voucher each

COMMITTEE CUP winner:                                                                  £50 voucher

“BEST IN SHOW” (Produce and craft) :                                            £30 voucher each

PRODUCE and CRAFT CO-OPERATIVES:                                        1st – £100 voucher each

                                                                                                            2nd – £50 voucher each

                                                                                                            3rd – £25 voucher each

NOVICE CUP:                                                                                      £10 voucher

In addition:

CLASSES 4 & 8 (the Co-operative Classes) will each receive a Co-operative Cup.

CLASS 13 will be awarded the Committee Cup to the WI receiving the highest number of votes from the public participation.

The Elsie Littlefield Cup will be awarded to the winning entry in the Novice Class, which this year will be Class 11, Art.

The Vouchers an Awards for Best in Show in Craft and Produce are sponsored by the WI Tent Committee.

The Voting Results for the Committee Cup; Presentation of the Vouchers and the Individual Awards for both Craft and Produce together with ‘Best in Show’ exhibits and the Silverware for Classes 4, 8, 11 and 13 will be presented at the Autumn Coffee Morning – Wednesday 8th October 2025 at Bramshaw Village Hall.

SELLING STALL

Please ensure any item for sale has not been offered at a previous Show.  Items reflecting class entries have proved popular.  NO TOYS EXACTLY TO A PATTERN WITH COPYRIGHT, please.

Articles for sale must be securely labelled showing both price and member’s name and a list, in duplicate, handed in with the goods.  Items to be brought to the Stewards’ Coffee Morning, Wednesday 2nd July 2025 at Bramshaw Village Hall, or, alternatively to the WI Tent BETWEEN 9.00am and 10.30am on Monday 28th July 2025.

(PLEASE remember a stamped addressed envelope to enable us to send your cheques for the goods sold).

Unsold articles MUST be collected between 6.00pm and 7.00pm on Thursday 31st July 2025.
