Welcome to Brockenhurst WI’s February activities.

Our February meeting is for members only. It is our 107th Birthday and we will be celebrating and considering how the WI has changed throughout all of those years, appreciate all of those things that have remained constant and the friendships made.

We will be having a fish and chip (and alternatives) supper. If you haven’t pre-booked your supper please contact us with your preference asap. Please bring a plate, cutlery condiments (if there’s something specific that you are partial to, and any drinks you’d like with your supper. Tea and coffee will be available.

There will also be entertainment in the form of a Beatle Drive, a choice of board and party games to play on each table, a table quiz compiled by our renowned Quiz Master, Issy, with prizes of course. If you just want to chat, that’s fine too – a social table will be provided.

There will be a raffle as usual, but no Competition of the Month. (It will give you a chance to work on the Competition for March, a photograph of Wild Weather, which is also on the draft schedule for the New Forest Show).

On Thursday 13th February Julie will be leading a walk – Meet at Beechern Wood Car Park at 2.00pm. There will be a sign up sheet at the February meeting. Or contact us to add your name.

On Thursday 20th February there will be a Lunch Club meeting at The Haven in Lymington at 12.30pm. There will be a sign up sheet at the February meeting. Or contact us to add your name. Just to let you know Chrissie is planning a Brunch Club for April – something a bit different and may appeal to more folk.

The Craft Group will be running sessions on Friday 7th February and Friday 21st February at 2pm. Please contact us for more information, to book a place and for the location. Do see Carole at the monthly meeting if you have any questions or would like to attend future sessions and Carole will put you on the distribution list.

Kim is running Quilting Sessions.

Britta is running Crochet sessions.

The Darts team continue to practice on Thursday mornings at the Foresters Arms at 11am. New members always welcome.

Rita and her team continue to make bandages for Ukraine on Wednesday mornings from 10am. Please contact us for the location.

Forthcoming Events

We will be entering a team in the walking race in the Village Pancake Race on Tuesday 4th March. There will be a sign up sheet at the February meeting. Or contact us to add your name.

Friday 14th March: Brockenhurst Group Event at Bashley Village Hall between 10.00am and 1.30pm. The event will include a cookery demonstration, morning coffee and a two-course lunch. We have been allocated fifteen tickets at £15pp. Should be informative, good fun and sociable. Sign-up early to avoid disappointment!

Wednesday 19th March 2025, Spring Council Meeting. Please note there has been a change of venue and it is now at Portsmouth Guildhall  PO1 2AB and there are tickets available here and cost £25

Saturday and Sunday 26th and 27th April: Needlework Festival at the Village Hall. We will be providing the usual refreshments service again and asking for your customary support to bake loads of cakes, to help in the kitchen and servery and act as cashiers on a rota basis for a couple of hours or as long as you would like to stay. Don’t forget this event is our major fundraiser from which we all benefit, so please sign up from March onwards to make your contribution.

Sunday 27th April: ANZAC Day service at St Nicholas Church. Further details to follow.

Saturday 10th May: 80th Anniversary of VE day: Bring Your Own Village Picnic at St Saviour’s gardens between 2.00 – 5.00pm. Entertainment to be provided by Brassed Toffs and The Friday Girls. More details to follow.
