Are you looking for some activities to get you through the winter? If so, do take a look at the classes for the WI tent at The New Forest which takes place on 29th, 30th and 31st July.
There are lots of different classes with something for all, so why not start planning your entries now (but please note this is a draft schedule at this stage).
Please note, Brockenhurst WI will have a theme of a photograph of “Wild Weather” for an upcoming ‘Competition of the Month” in aid of ACWW at a future meeting, so do get snapping with your camera! More details will follow.

CLASSES
- Lavender Biscuits
For a gift; four Lavender Biscuits, presented in a cellophane bag, not sealed, but tiedwithribbon or raffia etc.
- Fruit Chutney
Fruit Chutney in a clear glass jar no larger than 225g with a plain unused lid. Ingredients and date to be listed on label.
- Four Wild Flower Cupcakes
Four cupcakes, each cupcake decorated to represent a different wild flower, presented on a20cm square board. Fondant/piping decoration – no buttercream.
- Produce Co-operative
‘A Campsite Picnic’ Two different food items and a non-alcoholic drink, presented on a board nolarger than51x 51cm. Backboard optional but must be within the sizes quoted; to be viewed from the front. No meat or fish and all food items to be covered with cling film. All items must be removable for judging. Accessories may be used but must be within the exhibit areaandwill be marked as part of Staging and Interpretation. Please add name of WI to underside of board. At least three members to take part, but only two to stage on Monday 28th July.
- Knitting/Crochet
‘Wild Animal’ A Wild Animal, not dressed, up to 36cm in length, height appropriate. No kits please. N.B. This is not a toy. - ‘Wonderfully Wild Face Mask’ A decorated, full-face mask with elastic fixing, suitable for an adult, mixed media.
- Charity Class Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Southampton Hospital. A child’s quilt, approximately 60 x 80cm (no commercial quilting or embellishments allowed and no kits please), fabric used must be suitable for machine washing and tumble drying. All entries submitted will be retained and donated to PICU.
- Craft Co-operative A Wild Walk in the Woods’ Three different craft items, presented on a board no larger than 61 x 77cm, backboard optional, but must be within the sizes quoted; viewed from the front. All items must be removable for judging. Accessories may be used but must be within the exhibit area and will be marked as part of the Staging and Interpretation. Please add name of WI to underside of board. At least three members to take part, but only two to stage on Monday 28th July.Wildly
- Arranged Flowers A Hand-tied Posy (approximately 30 stems) to be displayed in a glass jar, jar no larger than 600g and 16cm high.
- Photography ‘Wild Weather’ A photograph you have taken of wild weather within the last year. Photograph no larger than 13 x 18cm, framed within a mount; ready to hang/stand (no clip frames). Maximumof two entries per member.
- Novice Class * Art ‘Wild Women!’ A painting/drawing, any medium, nothing stitched or sewn. Exhibit must be framed, glazed and ready to hang (no box frames, clip frames or canvases due to humidity). Width no larger than 36cm, height appropriate. *Open to members who have not previously won a 1st Prize in this category in the WI Tent.
- Papercraft ‘Wild Party Invitation’ A Wild Party invitation, just one side, 13 x 18cm, in an unsealed cellophane bag (for judging purposes). No kits please. One card per member.
- Committee Cup (public vote) ‘Wonderfully Wild Safari’ A Wild Safari scene; on a board no larger than 35 x 35cm, to be viewed from the front. Several members to participate. Craft items only, no mechanics or commercial toys. Please add name of WI to underside of board.
