The 30th November saw the 73rd Brockenhurst Group Show take place at St Mary Magdalene Church Hall in New Milton.

The Brockenhurst Group consists of WI’s from Brockenhurst, Sway, New Milton and Barton Bees. This year, the Salterns Group (Milford on Sea, Lymington, Pennington, Hordle and Everton and Lymore joined in too.

The display at the hall looked great and it was a testament to the hard work of the Group Show committee.

Julie cajoled 32 members of the 62 members from Brockenhurst WI to enter and this produced 77 entries across all classes.

Our members did us proud with their fantastic entires – what talented members we have!

Kim got first prize for her great Snowman apron and was awarded The Craft Cup.

Brockenhurst WI were awarded with the New Forest Cup for the WI with the most points overall. We gained 1193 points in total. For those of you who entered, every point counts to that total, so thank you for your part in us winning.

Brockenhurst WI were also awarded Bowden Smith Cup for the WI having the highest percentage of members entering to the proportion of their membership, with 32 members of our 62 members entering.

Julie was awarded the Heather Farwell Rose Bowl for the person gaining the highest number of points overall.

The following members also gained over 50 points, so congratulations go to Janette, Kim, Jackie, Anne N, Ann H and Gina

The points break down to:

• 3 Gold Stars 9 for 20 points out of 20
• 17 Double Silver Stars for 18 or 19 points out of 20
• 15 Silver Stars for 16 or17 points points out of 20
• 13 Red Stars for 15 points points out of 20
• 10 Blue Stars for 14 points points out of 20
• 13 Green Stars for 13 points points out of 20

This year, it was Brockenhurst WI’s turn to run the refreshment stall and we thank everyone for your cakes and help on the day.

Kim and Julie wish to thank each and every member who entered something into the Group Show. Every entry and every point gained really does make a difference and helped us to win the two cups.
