July Activities 2024

On Monday 8h July 2024 we have our Monthly Meeting with speaker with speaker Kevin Fowler. The topic is “The Race to Scotland -an adventure”. It will be held at Brockenhurst Village Hall and arrival is from 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Guests and visitors are welcome to attend.

The competition of the month in aid of ACWW will be a flower. So please bring a single bloom in a vase for our competition table. Members vote using a silver coin for their favourite flower. The flower with the most coins is the winner. The money is sent to our charity ACWW.

There will also be a raffle, sign up sheets for upcoming activities and a chance to order a WI Diary (see Jackie for this). We look forward to seeing you at the meeting.

Julie will be leading the next walk and meet up on Thursday 11th July starting at 6.30pm. Meet at Beechern Wood car park off the Rhinefield Road, Brockenhurst. Please sign up at Monday’s meeting and provide your contact details in case of last minute change of plans. Do contact us if you’d like to come along so we know to expect you. The forest can be wet/muddy, so please wear suitable footwear.

Lunch Club -Christine has organised lunch on Monday 15th July at Esme’s Tea Rooms at The Thatched Cottage, 16 Brookley Road, Brockenhurst, at 12.30 Please contact us or see Christine at Monday’s meeting for more information or sign up at the next meeting.

The Craft Group will be running a session on Friday 5th July from 2-4pm at Julie’s house. We are having a demonstration of weaving using T-shirts. Non Craft Group members are welcome.

There will also be sessions on Friday 19th July at 2pm. Please contact us for more information, to book a place and for the location. Do see Carole at the monthly meeting if you have any questions or would like to attend future sessions and Carole will put you on the distribution list.

Rita is continuing with Bandage Making for Ukraine on Wednesday mornings from 10-12 noon at Rita’s house. All welcome to come along and help. Rita also welcomes help from those who can’t attend the bandage making sessions, but can help in their own homes. Rita is especially in need of people with sewing machines to do some simple machine sewing.Please contact us for more details and location or speak to Rita at Monday’s meeting.

The Darts team continue to practice most Thursdays at 11am at the Foresters Arms, Brookley Road, Brockenhurst. All welcome to join in. Please contact us for more details.

The New Forest Show is fast approaching so we hope you are all beavering away with your entries. Entries either need to be taken to Evelyn’s by Sunday 28th July or delivered to the WI Tent at New Forest Showground between 9.30am and 10.30am on Monday 29th July. If you are unable to deliver your entires to either Evelyn or the Showground, please contact us Evelyn may be able to collect them fro you.

Did you know that individuals can join Hampshire WI’s 300 club? By doing so, you can help support HCFWI with an annual payment of £10.00 You could win a major prize and, at the same time, raise funds for HCFWI. An entry form can be found here.

Looking for somewhere to have a cuppa? Did you know that Brockenhurst Village Hall has a community cafe on weekdays? Monday, Thursday and Friday are self service sessions, but on Tuesday and Wednesday from 11-3pm cakes are also available.

Why not arrange to go with a group of Brockenhurst WI friends?

There are also C-A-M-E-O Come-And-Meet-Each-Other sessions in the Church Hall, Wilverley Road y Thursday morning 10.15 a.m. – 11.45  for coffee (or tea!) and biscuits, lively conversation and good company.
