Our June activities started on 1st June when Brockenhurst WI took part in the Brockenhurst village 80th anniversary D-Day celebrations at Brockenhurst Football Club. We featured the role of women in World War II. You can read about it here.

On Wednesday 5th June fourteen members took part on a croquet evening hosted by Lymington Croquet Club at Woodside Park. It was a fun (and competitive) evening. You can read about it here.

At our June meeting, Julie stood in for Liz, our new President, who was unwell. Julie welcomed the members, two returning guests and speaker Gavin Blackman. It was a busy evening with a raffle, plant stall, sign-up boards and a display of photographs of our stall at the Brockenhurst D-Day celebrations. Gavin Blackman, our speaker, gave an interesting talk about Hypnotherapy and Wellbeing. You can read about the meeting here.

The June Lunch Club was held at the Turfcutters Arms in East Boldre. We had a nice private area. There were lots of clean plates, lots of chat and laughs. The staff did very well looking after us as it was busy!

Our walk was held on a very hot day, so the decision to have an evening walk was a good one! It was still hot when we set off from Beechern Wood car park so we headed into the woods to keep cool. At the halfway point, 3 ladies decided to head for home and the rest walked on through the cool of the woods before then heading back across Whitemoor. Thankfully, it was a pleasant temperature by then. We stopped and looked at the flora and fauna. A pleasant walk was had by all!

On Wednesday 26th June, two teams from Brockenhurst WI took part in the HCFWI QUIZ FIRST ROUND. It was a lovely, social evening, with much laughter. We took drinks and nibbles to sustain all that thinking. Brockenhurst B (green) team started well, and were second at one stage, but then A (yellow) team got their thinking caps on and stormed ahead. We discovered members knew some random facts, Janette knew the answer to an obscure question on darts, and Liz displayed much geographical knowledge (obviously a well-travelled woman!).
In the end New Milton Sands Red team won, with Sway second, Brockenhurst Yellow team third, Barton Bees Black team fourth, Brockenhurst Green 5th, New Milton Sands Blue team 6th and Barton Bees White team 7th.

The Craft Group have ben busy working on entries for the New Forest Show at their Friday meetings. A cuppa and a piece of cake have also been enjoyed at these meetings!

Rita and team have continued to make bandages for Ukraine on Wednesday mornings. More volunteers are always welcome.

The darts team have continued to practice most Thursday mornings and the social aspect of these mornings is enjoyed by all.
