October Round Up 2023

The month started with our darts team being in the semi-final and final of the Hampshire inter-WI’s darts tournament. Well done team! You can read more here.

Janette and the darts teams continue to hold practice sessions on Thursdays at 11am at Foresters Arms, Brookley Road, Brockenhurst. All welcome to join in. Please contact us for more details.

Then the next evening, Brockenhurst WI host the Brockenhurst Group Social with an evening of all things chocolate, including making chocolates. You can read more here.

Our Craft Group ran the October monthly meeting with an evening of card making with various techniques being demonstrated by skilful members.  Seven tables were covered with colourful paper, card, ribbons, stars and buttons, and everyone produced one or more cards. You can read more here.

Julie informed us that we have been invited to produce squares for a community quilt, supporting the United for Warm Homes campaign. This is a joint effort by Greener Brockenhurst with Friends of the Earth to produce a visual aid reflecting the need for renewables, insulation and warm homes.

If you are interested in making a square or two as part of this community project, please contact us for more details.  We have many talented members who could make a square or to so we hope that as many people as possible will take part.

Christine K organised a lunch club visit to The Rising Sun at Bashley. Fourteen ladies were looked after well by the staff and there were lots of positive comments about the food. As usual, there was lots of chat too. Thanks go to Christine K for organising these lunches.

Rita and her team have continued to make bandages for Ukraine. Thank you Rita and team.

Julie lead us on an autumnal walk in the sunshine.

Our Craft Group have continued to be busy. You can read more here. New members are always welcome at these sessions. Please contact us for more information about these sessions.

We look forward to November!
