Our October meeting took the form of a crafting evening.

We had 41 members and 3 guests, met for an evening of card making with various techniques being demonstrated by skillful members. Seven tables were covered with colourful paper, card, ribbons, stars and buttons, and everyone produced one or more cards.
Anne N demonstrated and taught members how to make Christmas tree cards.

Ann H demonstrated and taught members how to do origami tea bag folding.

Mel demonstrated and taught members how to make an origami Christmas tree cards.

Lindy demonstrated and taught members how to make ‘spoldge’ cards using leftover acrylic paint.

Jackie demonstrated bauble tree cards.

Janette’s table made decoupage cards, recycling old Christmas cards.

Esther’s table made cute snowmen cards from old buttons.

This seemed to be enjoyed by all who attended. The evening also gave members and visitors a chance for a chat, and get to know one another.
Beautiful cards were produced. It definitely lived up to the WI motto of ‘women inspiring women’!

There were an array of sign-up sheets, including Lunch club, walk and meet up and a community quilting initiative we have been asked to take part in. If you would like to volunteer for this, please do contact us.
We also had a raffle run by Maureen and assisted by April.

Our “Competition of the Month’ was a flower in a vase. As usual, this was voted for by placing a silver coin against your favourite card with the money going to ACWW.

The winner was Janette with her beautiful Cosmos.

Our next meeting is on Monday 13th November 2023 with speaker Jeremy Prescott talking about “The Victoria Cross”. Brockenhurst Village Hall – arrival from 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Click here to contact us for more information.
