Brockenhurst WI are very grateful to Rachel Smith, President of Friends for Brockenhurst, for taking the time to visit our Clean Rivers display in the old telephone box on Meerut Road, Brockenhurst and for recording this video:

“Hello I’m Rachel, Smith, formerly Rachel Kalis and I’m just here as the president of Friends of Brockenhurst to add my voice to the clamour for Clean Rivers and safe beaches. I think it’s a wonderful project the WI has got. And I’ll tell you a little story. My in-laws added the mains water to Setthorns Cottage and they lived at Wilverley Lodge. Mrs James from Setthorns Cottage used to come and clean for my Mother-in-law and she came in one day after a bank holiday deeply shocked. She said “do you know there have been children bathing naked in Wootton Brook and the horses and cows have got to drink out of that!” So far from the people who now say they are worried about the pollution from the cows and horses, there is a different point of view. Thank you.”

The WI campaign is for clean rivers for people and wildlife and the New Forest Animals have as much write to drink clean water as we do! So it was lovely to hear that story. Thank you Rachel.
