Our next meeting is Monday 12th June, at which our speaker will be Tony Gilks, talking to us about “Jewels in the Crown”, the history behind the gems in the Coronation regalia, very topical and I’m sure will be fascinating.
The Competition of the Month competition will be a flower (a single flower in a vase). There will also be a raffle.
If you are considering entering any categories at the New Forest Show then entires need to be in by 16th June. Evelyn will have the sign-up sheets at the meeting so please sign up then and pay your £1 per entry.
Zena will be available to receive subs from anyone wishing to pay and also to take payment for the August Breamore outing (see below).
We will also be holding a plant sale at the June meeting, so if you have spare seedlings, cuttings, etc please do bring them. A donation box will be out in aid of ACWW.

In June’s Hampshire News a mention is made that July is plastic free month. As a W.I. we have subscribed to Greener Brockenhurst’s plastic free pledge, so do bear in mind little changes you can make which will make a difference. Our W.I. refreshments are served with milk in a reusable glass bottle, so we are trying. More details and suggestions about being plastic-free will follow in the coming months.
Bandage Making for Ukraine continues at Rita’s house every Wednesday morning between 10am and 12 noon.
The Darts team to continue practice on Thursday mornings at The Foresters Arms for the upcoming tournament.

A Craft Group meeting hosted by Ann H on Friday 9th June, to make cards decorated with tea bag origami! Please let Ann know or contact us if you would like to attend.
Lunch Club is arranged for Monday 19th June at the Turfcutters Arms. Please sign up and make your menu choice at Monday’s meeting or contact us if you would like to attend..
A Walk in aid of ACWW, followed by tea and cake will be held on Thursday 22nd June, venue to be decided depending on the weather. Please contact us if you would like to attend.

A workshop aimed at New Forest Show entries making Capes of Courage hosted by Kim on Friday, 23rd June. We do hope many of you will take part in this, the charity class for the Show. The pattern is quite simple, and Kim is such a good teacher she will make it easy. These capes are given to children suffering from cancer. On 27th June at 2pm Kim will be holding a workshop to make Angel pocket which are used in hospital labour suites. These little pocket wraps are used on the sad occasion when babies are stillborn. If you would like to attend this workshop Please contact us.
On 29th June the first round of the Group quiz will take place at Sway Village Hall. We have two teams arranged, and hope to repeat our success of last year!
An opportunity to play croquet has been arranged in Lymington for 13th July. If you have put your name down, could you please pay Zena on Monday. If you would like to go on the reserve list, please let us know.

A visit and guided tour of Breamore House and Museum on Tuesday 15th August followed by tea and cake. Please note this trip is for members only. This will cost £16.00 including refreshments. Please sign up and pay Zena.
World Textile Day will take place on Saturday 30th September. We will be organising the refreshments at this event.
A Group social event of “An evening of chocolate” has been arranged for 4th October. See board for details. Brockenhurst are hosting this event, so we would appreciate your support for the event. (For new members, we are part of the Brockenhurst Group of W.I.s, consisting of ourselves, Barton Bees, Sway and New Milton Sands). A Group social event is organised each year by one W.I. of the Group, and this year it is the turn of Brockenhurst.
We hope your chillies are growing well, hopefully better than mine who have refused to germinate! These will be judged for the most fruits at our September meeting. Kim is very dedicated to her chilli growing and it has even been on a boat tour of Scotland with her!
