The day of our May Walk and Meet-Up was a showery one and we were on the verge of cancelling. But we were so glad we didn’t! When we met at the starting point at St Nicholas Church the sun was shining!
We admired the bluebells around the car park and surrounding area. We watched a Blackbird busily finding worms.

We headed up Church Lane, turned left onto the footpath and negotiated the mud!

It was worth it to see the beautiful bluebells.

As it was such a nice day, we extended our walk and enjoyed listening to the birdsong and seeing the vibrant green of the trees.

On our return we spotted this fairy house.

We stopped to look at the wild flowers and saw Lords and Ladies amongst others.

As we headed back down Church Lane we all agreed that we were pleased that we ignored the weather forecast and made the effort to get out and get some exercise. We enjoyed having a chat and a laugh and being in the woods in the sunshine.

The June walk will be on Thursday 22nd June at 2.30pm. It will be followed by a cuppa and cake in aid of ACWW. Non-walkers are welcome to join us after the walk for refreshments. Please sign up at the May or June meetings or contact us if you would like to walk or come for refreshments as you will be emailed with the venue (as this may be weather dependent).
Thanks to Christine K for some of the photos.
