April Activities

Our next meeting is at Brockenhurst Village Hall on Monday April 17th with a speaker from the NPA talking about Ground Nesting Birds.

At the meeting we will have the Competition of the Month which is a photograph of something that makes you happy.  A photo taken within the last year.  Size no larger than 7 x 5 inch or 13 x 18 cm.  Proceeds to go as usual to ACWW so bring along some silver coins to vote for your favourite photo.  We will also have the raffle.

Chillies – if you require any more seeds for our annual growing competition, please ask me at the meeting.  The winner will be the plant with the most number of chillies.  Judging will be at our September meeting.

The Craft Group have a meeting on Wednesday 12th April at 2pm at Carole’s house. Please contact us for more information and for the location.

The next craft session will be on Friday 28th April at 2pm at Carole’s house.

Lunch Club will be at Holmsley Tea Rooms on Monday 24 April at 12.30 – please see sign up board or Christine Kyle.

Walk – Thursday 27th April at 2.30pm – see sign up board or see Christine Kyle.

We are looking for help to organise walks in the Forest- up to an hour in length. It doesn’t have to be done by one person, several of you could perhaps take on this challenge and organise a walk every other month at a time, location you suggest?  Julie has worked tirelessly on WI business and would like to hand this particular job over.  So please see me or Julie Wootten as it would be a shame for this to fold.  Dogs can also join in!

Darts -The Darts team practice at The Foresters most Thursday mornings at 11am. There may not be a session on Thursday 9th, but there should be sessions on forthcoming Thursday mornings. Why not try something new, un and social! Our darts sessions are also an opportunity to make friends, have a drink and enjoy a laugh. New members welcome! Contact us for more details.

Bandage Making for Ukraine – Rita is continuing to run bandage making sessions on Wednesday mornings from 10am-12 noon. Rita would also welcome your help at other times too if you can’t make these sessions. Perhaps you could do some ripping, sewing and rolling of bandages at home. If so, do speak to Rita at our meeting about this.

Recycling Following on from the talk by Milla from Greener Brockenhurst last month, Brockenhurst WI are proud to support Greener Brockenhurst.

There is a Recycling Shed which is located in the car park of Brockenhurst Village Hall. As you drive into the car park, you will see it straight in front of you, located on the back fence.

Twelve different types of waste are collected that are currently not recycled by New Forest District Council. This saves these items going to landfill

Three members of Brockenhurst WI committee volunteer and help to manage the operation of the shed.

Please show them your respect and gratitude to all out volunteers for their work by only leaving clean and sorted waste in the recycling bins.

The waste types collected are listed below.  Each has its own bin. Please click on the name for detailed information about exactly what is accepted for each type of waste
