The 73rd Brockenhurst Group Show

This weekend saw the 73rd Brockenhurst Group Show where members of the Brockenhurst Group comprising of Brockenhurst WI, Sway WI, Barton Bees WI and New Milton Sands WI competed.

The hall was a riot of spring colours and was a delight to see.

There were 16 individual categories and 2 Co-operative categories that members could enter.

25 members from Brockenhurst WI entered in 15 classes, equating to 73 individual entries. Plus we had members entering the co-operative classes. We also had grandchildren of members entering the children’s categories.

This equated to 37% of Brockenhurst WI members entering, which meant that we won The Bowden Smith Cup awarded to the Institute having the highest percentage of members entering in proportion to their membership. So a BIG thank you to all who entered, helping us to achieve this cup.

We also had success winning the New Forest Cup as we were the Institute who were runners up in the overall points (coming second in the points to Barton Bees WI).

Thanks to a beautiful display of flowers in a wellie boot, Geraldine Angel was awarded The Beryl Browning Cup for the ‘most outstanding display’ in category D1 for the floral display. This cup was accepted for Geraldine by Carole.

Moira Isenman was awarded The Floral Cup for her beautiful and fun Easter wreath.

Christine Kyle was awarded first prize for her Fruit Curd.

Jayne Johnson was awarded first prize for her Peg Bag.

Karen Whitty was awarded first prize for her Simnel Cake.

Evelyn Bartlett was awarded first prize for her Macrons.

Julie Wootten was awarded first prize for her Easter Bonnet.

All-in-all, this was a fantastic effort from all our members and we are proud of each and every one of you for entering.

We are asking all those who entered to take their entries (that survive) to our April meeting on 17th April to inspire other members to enter The New Forest Show and future Group Shows.

Congratulations to The Brockenhurst Group Committee for organising this event.

(Apologies if your entry was not photographed – I tried to show as many as possible )
