Following a talk a few years ago, a group of Brockenhurst WI ladies visited Honeypot House and garden in Blackfield. 

The sun shone and so we were able to enjoy the fabulous grounds and the house. 

The charity operates three respite residential houses – the New Forest, Wales and a new one in Scotland. 

The idea is for child carers to come for a short residential holiday. 

These children have huge daily caring responsibilities to carry out as well as school work to keep up with.   

The age range is from 5 years to 18 years.  There is an art studio / classroom in the garden near to the house and a games room as well as a swimmig pool.  Each child should enjoy a few days away (they are collected and returned by minibus) to be “a child”. 

We all found this experience very humbling and also educationally very interesting.
