Group Show 2023

The 73rd Brockenhurst Group Show will take place on Saturday 25th March 2023  at 10.30 am.

The Presentation of Awards will take be at 3pm

The categories are below, so get thinking about what you would like to enter! It would be great if we could have lots of entries and build on our success from last time.

The Group Show is not about entering the perfect item! Entries are given a score out of 20 and these score are added together for each WI. So the more entires we have, the better chance we have of winning the overall cup!

We know that are members are artistic – we’ve seen what you have produced from salt dough and silk painting!

SECTION A – PRODUCE

A1    A jar of fruit curd – 8oz or under (228ml or less)

A2    A jar of relish – 8oz or under (228ml or less)

A3    6 Macarons – presented in a box with a cellophane cover (could be a variety of flavours or a single flavour)

A4    6 Hot Cross Buns – any flavour and presented on a suitable board

A5    Simnel Cake – up to 8in, presented on a suitable paper plate

SECTION B – CRAFT

B1    Easter Bonnet (for display only) – any medium or size

B2    Knitted Toy (soft) – farm, woodland or river friends Only yarn and stuffing)

B3    Article in crochet – ‘Spring colours’

B4    Decorated Egg (real, plastic or polystyrene eggs) – any decoration and embellishments allowed. Please provide a stand/egg cup for your entry.

B5    Hand embroidery/appliqué/canvas work/beading – ‘The joys of Spring’

B6    A peg bag for a fresh Spring morning – peg bags to be sewn in any size, material or design.

B7    Reuse, recycle, redesign – using repurposed material(s)

SECTION C – ART AND PHOTOGRAPHY

C1    ‘New Beginnings’ – a photograph in colour or black and white. Print not to exceed 7×5″ (175mmx125mm). Print must be mounted and can be suitably framed.

C2    ‘The season of Spring painting or drawing – any medium. Framed or mounted to include an easel or stand. Frame/mount size not to exceed 25×20″ (525mmx500mm).

SECTION C – FLORAL AND SEASONAL

D1    ‘April shower’ – a floral arrangement presented in a child’s wellington boot. (one boot to be used up to a size 13). No other height or size restrictions. Fresh, dried or artificial items may be used along with suitable accessories. All must be contained within the wellington.

D2    ‘Happy Easter’ – a wreath for the door up to 18″ overall in diameter. Fresh, dried, artificial or craft techniques may be used along with suitable accessories for an Easter door display.

CO-OPERATIVE PRODUCE

A Day At The Races -Three food items

Three members to take part. All to be staged on a 20″x20″ (500mmx500mm) board.

Marks awarded to staging, variety and presentation.

‘Riverbank Tales’

Three items showcasing 3 crafts

Three members to take part. All to be staged on a 30″x24″ (750mmx600mm) board.

Marks awarded to staging, variety and presentation.

COOKERYThree Small Individual Cakes

Suitable for an Easter tea party. To be decorated and presented on a paper plate

CRAFT -Spring Flowers

At least 3 spring flowers to be made using any medium and size, presented in a vase (no maximum number of flowers). Vase does not need to be hand made.
